Favorite summer serving pieces + free recipe
Memorial Day unofficially marks the start of the summer vacation season.
While we own and operate a gift shop, which offers a lighthearted and fun environment, I do want to first begin by stating that it can be weird, at best, to “celebrate” Memorial Day. After all, we are taking the time to remember the brave men and women who have lost their lives by defending our country.
I’m a military brat. My father was a Chief Warrant Officer for the U.S. Army and enjoyed a career that spanned several decades. As a family, we moved to numerous different states and countries so he could serve his – our – country.
I’ve always been fond of the American flag, the stars and stripes and have a tremendous respect for those who serve our country.
With that said, the Memorial Day weekend does give us the opportunity to spend a little more time with our loved ones.
Liza, Lindsay and I are big believers in hosting easy, achievable parties – where the emphasis is placed on enjoying quality time. We like to have fun – but don’t want to spend every minute in the kitchen when our friends are out on the back deck!
With that said, we have carefully curated a variety of summer serving collections that can help you pull a part together – without having to spend too much time, money or energy on making it look just right.
We’ve also included a recipe to an easy appetizer that literally anyone can make (it requires no baking or cooking, so you can whip it up and sit down to enjoy time with loved ones).
We hope you like the recipe and find inspiration from a sampling of the serving pieces we have in the shop.
Finally, to those of you who have served our country – whether in the military or as part of a military family – we truly want to extend our sincere appreciation. We hope we get a chance to meet some of you this summer.
